True Name: Yin
Kitname: Tern
Nickname: ---
Age: 12+ Moons (Adolescent)
Gender:Female
Breed: Havana Brown x Peterbald/Sphynx
Born in: Late summer, year 100

Profession: Guard apprentice
Birth Tribe: Light-Tribe
Tribe Tattoo:White/Orange-Shadow
Soulbound: ---
Mentor: Akiko
Skills: ---

Appearance & Physique:
Tern is clearly her father's daughter with the dark coat of hers, not to mention the wrinkles. With both parents slim, long bat-eared, and flat faced, it is not strange that she has inherited these features. Her fur is almost nonexistent and could best be described as the fuzzy surface of a peach, she does have a few tufts here and there though, the most notable being the tuft on her shoulder. Her vibrant blue eyes comes from grandparents and the strange eyelashes (or markings if you want to go "realistic") from her mother. Though a mix, Tern looks most like a Peterbald.

She will be lithe and slender like her parents and most likely end up at her father's height. Tern isn't nor will she be very strong but instead-- much like her mother-- will have speed as her strongest trait.
She's a bean bag...

Size: Small
Build: Lean
Fur: Hairless/"peach fuzz"

Personality:

    Odd:
As she continues to grow, so does her strange mind. The mindset of Yin is not of the common one. She sees a lot of things for what they simply are but can easily dig deeper and spin her train of thought in all kinds of directions. She's philosophical, but not in the wise way. If she finds something of interest she doesn't just want to know what it can do but what it can't do as well. Where does the reach of the subject end? As such, it's common for her to go from thing to another, somehow finding a plausible connection between the two, yet it might seem quite far fetched to others. The odd mind of hers affects her way of speech as well. The sentences might not be few but they are often short and can at times be very descriptive. Saying strange things out of the blue is not really rare either.

    Ditzy:
Yin is someone with a fairly low attention span, unless it's something that interests her, she will lose her focus and start to think or do something else. It's not only when bored she does this, she can start zoning out if she feels safe or comfortable as well. Along with her strange way of thinking, all of it can make her seem very ditzy and she might appear to be completely daft at times, but it's simply because she finds it hard to convey her thoughts. With all that goes through her head, it's difficult to put it to simple words, this is also why it can often take a few seconds for her to reply.

    Skittish:
When uncomfortable, uncertain or in the belief that she's in danger, Yin becomes jittery. Anxious or on the edge, even angry, the hairless cat will find it hard to sit still and she'll appear very disoriented. Other times it might look more like a weird, nervous grumpiness. Typically she also ends up speaking faster and much more incoherent than usual. The topic that causes her the most discomfort is her apperance, she actually hates when others ask her about it and will ignore it the best she can. This is not to say that she will absolutely not talk about her hairlessness, but she will be very, very hesitant. It's not unusually for Yin to lie about it either.

    Laid-Back:
It depends on who she meets but Yin is more often than not friendly to most and is very rarely mean. She acts sort of laid-back during first encounters and might appear to not even take notice to the other but it is very easy for her to warm up to others, as long as they don't bring up subjects that are a no go for her. Even then she rarely holds any ill will. Just as fast her mind can go from one thing to another, just as fast her emotions can shift; any thought of dislike for another is usually momentarily. She's not the most social cat though, she will usually not be the first one to speak and prefers to meet one-on-one rather than in big groups. Won't really mind doing what someone else tells her to either, as long as she knows them.

    Imaginative:
Yin is all for the visual, whether it be the real world or in her own mind. She likes to see things, to study it or marvel at whatever it might be. Shapes and colors, it's all a great fascination for her. Due to this, teaching through visual means is the best way to get Yin to learn or understand something. Though it might seem at times like she has a screw loose, she can, as mentioned, be oddly philosophical. It might not be the most complex thoughts and ideas, strange is a more accurate description, but she does have a lot of thoughts about whatever she has come acrossed. She can spend hours upon hours daydreaming and for the most parts has very vivid dreams, both good and bad. Because of that, her nightmares can seem very real at times and she might actually believe what happened to be true. Basically, it can be hard for her to distinguish reality from fantasy. Thus, if she is plauged by very bad dream, she can become very anxious. If given inspiration and interested, she can be very creative and come up with good-- or weird-- solutions to things.

    Other traits: Forgetful, curious, lazy

History:

:bulletblue: She greats the world, quiet, strange. An odd sight.

The relationship between the Ristal and Requiem is difficult to describe. She considered him her 'greatest find' and he considered her a pest to be rid of, but they were not partners in any way nor were there any love. The only love that existed was Ristal's extreme love for Requiem's unique appearance. Even so, the kits happened, thanks to a day with a special little herb. It was not planned, it was not with any reasonable thoughts in mind, it was just an accident. Tern and her siblings were never meant to be. Though her mother hated the pregnancy, and even the thought of being a mother, she quickly changed her mind at the sight of the three kits. Strange, wrinkly kits that were all hers. So Tern came to the world, second born after her sister Shrike, and before her brother Jackdaw. Named after a bird like her siblings, not because of their appearance but due to her mother's love for the flying creatures. Within Light-Tribe she started her life, figuring out how to walk, befriending others and wondering why the sky is so high, so blue.

:bulletblue: Thoughts dancing, like the petals. She wishes to fly.

Tern's first six moons in life was nothing of the special. The world of the Tribes was troubled, but she noticed nothing of it. She spent her days within the camp and only a few times tried to step outside the safe area, mostly because she wasn't paying attention to where she was walking. She grew up with few reigns holding her back, her mother would only step in when any serious harm could befall her but other wise Tern and her siblings were encourged to explore, annoy and tussle with others. And the kit did come to learn a few others within her surroundings. Ally, another kit in the nursery, was the first one. A determined little she-cat she was happy to follow.
Acacia's vists to Light was short but that didn't stop the two to meet. Seeking warmth, Tern had headed over to the fluffy kit and very quickly had found herself call this new one a friend of hers. It did saddened her a bit to see Acacia eventually leave. Of the older cats, Tern got to talk to the Orange-Light Piper. A pale she-cat that ended up telling her about the powers of Air. With her love and fascination for the sky, it was not strange for Tern to become exhilarated of this new knowledge. It sounded to good to be true to her and from there on she would wish with all her heart to become one of Air-Tribe, to be given wings.

:bulletblue: A knot twisting in her stomach, chagrin and dismay.

Even if trouble and uncertainty had long laid over the Tribelands, time still passed and eventually the gathering was upon them. Though the air hanged tensed over those gathered, Tern only had in mind to wonder about her tattoo. She was excited, wishing. A tattoo of wings on her back, that's what she wanted. Yet a tattoo was nowhere to be seen. The ceremony didn't unfold like her mother had told her it would be and the she-cat was very confused when a name was whispered but no leader stood infront of her.
When the chaos that befelled the gathering had settled, or somewhat settled at least, Tern was finally told of the tattoo on her face. Disappointment and sadness swelled within her, broken wings it felt like. It was with a lot of pain she accepted her new name and path in life.

Roleplay example:

The girl clinged to the memories of light. The sun, bright in the sky. The sky, high above her, endlessly and magnificent. It doesn't come near her, it doesn't threaten to crumble and swallow her, shut her in. It's not like the frightening stone above her or the walls around. She had closed her eyes, it was easier that way to imagine what was around was not there.
Her mother had always laughed with a sneer that the Spirits had punished her for something she had no knowledge of, she had wished for incredible powers but had- according to her- been given the most boring one. Was it a curse? Had the same punishment now befallen Yin? She had wished to dance in the sky, to fly with the birds, but had been sent as far away as she could from it. Deep down in the ground, hidding among the dark caves. Darkness. No bright, blue sky there.

Yin didn't like it. It made her anxious and she fidgeted were she laid, eyes still so closely shut that her already wrinkled face creased even more. "Too close, too far..." The youngling mumbled. She wanted to get out but her precious sky was letting down petals. Tiny, white and cold petals that the older cats called snow. It was beautiful and breathtaking, but also breathtakingly cold. Yin shuddered. "Darkness like a touchless sea... curling... creeping..." Her voice was low and thin, barely a whisper. "The sky watches me, protects me... can it see me here...? Mom..." Curling together in her nest, the new bed she had been given, Yin whimpered softly for her far off family.
